
Historic Court Victory Confirms Oblempong Wetse Kojo II as Legitimate Paramount Chief of Jamestown

In a landmark ruling that brings clarity and closure to a long-standing Chieftancy dispute, the High Courts of Ghana have officially recognized and re-confirmed Oblempong Wetse Kojo II as the legitimate Paramount Chief of Jamestown and the Ngleshie Alata traditional area.
In a decisive judgment delivered on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, the courts of Ghana ruled in favor of Oblempong Wetse Kojo II in the long-standing case against Nii Ayi Okufrubuor popularly known as “Nii Lafa” or “Papa Anku”, and others, conclusively dismissing their claims and upholding the lawful authority and enstoolment of Oblempong Wetse Kojo II.
The court’s ruling brings an end to years of disputes that had challenged the rightful leadership of the Jamestown and Ngleshie Alata Traditional Area. In its decision, the court emphasized that all opposing claims lacked proper traditional and legal foundation, thereby confirming Oblempong Wetse Kojo II as the only recognized Paramount Chief in accordance with Ghanaian customary and statutory law.
“This victory is not merely personal—it is a triumph for truth, justice, and a brighter future for the people of Jamestown,” said a spokesperson for the Jamestown Paramount Stool. “The court’s decision forms the basis to restore unity and integrity to our traditional governance and allows our community to focus on peace, progress, and cultural preservation.”
Following the ruling, Jamestown youth and residents have expressed deep satisfaction and relief, welcoming the judgment as a restoration of order and legitimacy. Elders of the community have also called for reconciliation and collective effort toward development under the leadership of Oblempong Wetse Kojo II.
Oblempong Wetse Kojo II has expressed his dedication to community empowerment, education, and cultural renewal. Under his leadership, the Jamestown and Ngleshie Alata Traditional Area is expected to enter a new era of unity, progress, and prosperity. Oblempong also extended his sincere appreciation to the judiciary of Ghana for upholding the principles of justice and traditional integrity.
