Without credible verification of information, Opera News seems to have joined the group of bloggers/journalists using false headlines to incite violence in Jamestown. In a recent article entitled “BLOODBATH LOOMS AT JAMESTOWN AS MINISTER’S VISIT RAISES STAKES IN TENSE NGLESHIE ALATA LEADERSHIP DISPUTE” it is very clear that the article, in itself is a call to violence and must be addressed immediately. False News and false stories have created unnecessary fear and tension in not just Ngleshie but other traditional areas and it is high time these attempts by unscrupulous individuals to destabilize our peace, be put to an end.
First of all, we will bring to your attention that the Minister for Chieftancy has already had an interaction with Jamestown Chiefs and Queenmothers via the regional house of Chiefs, which meeting occurred on Thursday 9th October 2025. The meeting was also attended by the Minister for local govt, and the Greater Accra Regional Minister.

The recent article referenced above makes reference to elders and Kingmakers, and it is believed that these terms are just plagiarized terms taken from statements made by the legitimate Dzaase Council members and legitimate prinicipal elders of the Ngleshie Alata stool. “We have never threatened anyone with a bloodbath, or with violence neither has anyone else in Jamestown threatened such. But it seems these vagabonds who don’t want to see peace in our community continue to incite violence and breed animosity by paying bloggers and journalists to distort the truth on the ground. We have also noticed certain fake documents being circulated and purported to either be coming from the Paramount Stool or associated with the Paramount Stool. We find it quite absurd, that those who continue to incite violence are even able to get an iota of attention from the youth, and certain media houses, allowing themselves to be caught up in unnecessary animosities that continue to destabilize our community.
Recently, the true and recognized principal elders and Kingmakers of Jamestown sounded a warning to such unscrupulous bloggers and journalists who use their platforms to continue inciting violence. Bloggers mentioned include one Freeman who has been knocking heads to achieve this aim, along with News Ghana, Jeff Ashley, Nii Tettey TV, and the Meridien newspaper who are all alleged to be mis-informing the public, while inciting discord and calls to violence. “We are now seeing through the facade and through the personal animosities, and we will no longer tolerate it. Media houses should understand that they have a responsibility to speak truth and to maintain peace. Commenting and stirring public emotions about cases that are being heard in court constitutes contempt; while violating our laws, the Chieftancy act, and the constitution of Ghana. We will be quick to prosecute them if necessary”, the principal elders said.
