Accra, Ghana — The First Lady of St. Kitts and Nevis paid a courtesy call on Naa Tsoolo Kakalor I, Development Queen and Right Wing Queen of Jamestown Ngleshie Alata, during a special visit to the Green Butterfly Gallery located at AnC Corner.
The visit celebrated cultural exchange, women’s empowerment, and the growing importance of supporting local artisans and small businesses in Ghana. Naa Tsoolo Kakalor I, who is also the Founder and Director of Green Butterfly, welcomed the First Lady to the gallery where she was introduced to a wide range of handcrafted products created by Ghanaian artisans.
Green Butterfly is a platform dedicated to empowering local producers—particularly women—by providing them with opportunities to showcase and sell their handmade products. Through initiatives such as the Green Butterfly Gallery and its artisan markets, the organization continues to promote sustainable livelihoods and economic empowerment within communities.
During the visit, the First Lady toured the gallery, expressing admiration for the creativity, craftsmanship, and cultural heritage reflected in the products on display. The occasion highlighted the importance of supporting small businesses and locally made products, especially on meaningful and celebratory days.
Naa Tsoolo Kakalor I emphasized that supporting artisans strengthens communities and helps preserve Ghana’s rich traditions of craftsmanship.
“Every time someone chooses to buy from a local artisan or small business, they are supporting families, empowering women, and helping to sustain cultural heritage,” she noted.
The visit also reinforced the strong cultural connections between Africa and the Caribbean, demonstrating the shared appreciation for heritage, creativity, and community-driven development.
Green Butterfly continues to serve as a hub for locally made products and a platform where artisans can thrive.
Supporters, visitors, and members of the public are encouraged to shop from small businesses and artisans, not only on special occasions but as part of a conscious effort to promote sustainable economic growth in Ghana.
